Culture, conversation and a slower afternoon

Three places, one neighbourhood and room for a conversation. Adapt this example itinerary to your pace.

This is a researched example itinerary, not an account of someone’s trip. Check opening times, exhibitions and access with each venue before setting out.

  1. Begin with living traditions

Start at the Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares. Its temporary exhibitions explore Mexico’s living cultures. Let one object or story spark a question about where a tradition comes from.

A question to open the conversation
¿De qué región viene esta tradición?
Which region does this tradition come from?

  2. Make lunch a conversation

Browse Mercado de Coyoacán and ask about the food on offer. If you need vegetarian food, check ingredients, including lard and meat stock, with the vendor. Leave time to hear their answer.

  3. Pause in Jardín Centenario

Finish around the Fuente de los Coyotes. Take a moment to remember a detail, note a phrase you used or compare what surprised you with a travel companion.

A question to share at the end
¿Qué fue lo que más te sorprendió hoy?
    What surprised you most today?
